From Pastor Jim, August 2

August 2, 2010

A few weeks ago I read an article entitled “God’s promises for Difficult Times.”  The author reviewed 25 Bible passages that promised hope for those hurting financially. I began to think about the friends and church family who I know are going through intense pain, disappointment and loss. Some have lost jobs and houses; others are living paycheck to paycheck, afraid of the future. Beginning August 22, we’ll launch a new message series entitled “In God We Trust:  Biblical Advice for Difficult Times.” I hope you’ll plan now to be here Aug. 22, Sept. 5 and 12 for this powerful series. And would you begin now to pray for someone you might invite who needs hope from God for their finances?

This past Sunday, John and I began a three-part series entitled “SACRIFICE: Rediscovering the Heart of Worship.” Sunday morning praise is the focus of our worship, but the heart of all worship is sacrifice . . . Christ’s sacrifice for us that inspires us to daily present ourselves to Him as living sacrifices. Don’t miss this Sunday as John shares his heart about congregational worship.

This fall, as a part of Vision 2012, we’ll launch a capital campaign to raise money for an ambitious but much needed facility expansion. Phase I includes a new Children’s Ministry Center to be constructed in the next three years. I want to ask you to join with me and my family as we begin to pray about our part in giving to this cause to reach more people with the life-changing love of Christ.

Speaking of changed lives, don’t miss Sunday, August 29. Ron and the Bible Fellowship leaders will be rounding up members for a new year.  In worship we will be experiencing “Life Change Sunday.” You’ll be inspired and moved by stories of how God has transformed lives and touched hearts through this church in ways you could not imagine.

It’s an honor to serve as your pastor.  We love you all, Pastor Jim
