"F.A.Q." Part 3: Questions from Doubts

Then Jesus told him, “You believe because you have seen me. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me.”  John 20:29

I.  Science & the Bible

  • Does Genesis 1 conflict with science? What about the Big Bang?  What about dinosaurs?

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.  2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.  Genesis 1:1-2

  • Did the miracles of the Bible really happen?

30Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. 31But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name. John 20:30-31

II. Evil  & Suffering

  • “Why do bad things happen to good people?”  Why is there so much suffering in the world?

. . . In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."  John 16:33

10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.   11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him;

12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.  Psalms 103:10-12

 Quick Questions:

  • What do atheists think happens to them when they die?
  • How is the story of Jonah and the whale possible?
  • Is it OK for a Christian to read horoscopes?

III. Eternal Security.

  • How can I be sure I’m saved?
  • Can a person, once they’re saved, lose their salvation?

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 1 John 5:13

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand.  John 10:29

"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven . . .”  Matthew 7:21
